FAQ

Briefly asked

No one reads your journal — what exactly that means is the very first answer. Below it, everything else you want to know beforehand.

Security and data

Can anyone read what I write?

No — not even us, unless you pass it on yourself. Journal, notes, anchors, check-ins, letters and media files are end-to-end encrypted. The key is created on your device and stays there; the server stores a package it can’t read itself. That isn’t a promise, it’s how it’s built — a promise we could change.

The method works with honesty towards yourself, and that requires exactly this. What leaves a conversation is your decision:

  • Only the passage you release is transmitted — passage by passage, each time anew. Journal, anchors and check-ins stay encrypted, except what you put into a package for your next session yourself.
  • With the AI coach it goes to our AI provider Anthropic, which also processes it in the USA — without your name and without your email address. It isn’t used for training. What that means is stated in full beforehand.
  • A coach sees that you are taking part. They only see what you write if you hand it over yourself: a passage in a conversation, or a package for your next session in which you tick each entry. For that, the package is stored with us unencrypted for 30 days, and you can withdraw it at any time. There is no usage figure on their invoice either.
  • The reminder for an anchor names its title; whether it shows on the lock screen is up to you, in your phone’s settings. Letters and the weekly review arrive without any content. The reminders are scheduled on your device: they run neither through our server nor through a push service, and their times stay on your device.
  • The widget shows the names of your anchors, on the lock screen too if you put it there; you can hide them under Settings › Reminders. It only reads what the app stores on your device.
  • Turning a voice note into text is done by your iPhone itself — the recording does not leave it for that.
  • Export and deletion work without questions asked — and never depend on a payment.
How do I delete my account — even without the app?

In the app, deletion is under Settings and happens without questions asked. And if you no longer have the app at all — deleted, device lost, new phone — it still works: deepanchor.app/delete/. You enter the address of your account there and receive a confirmation link; only the link deletes, and it is valid for one hour.

What then goes, permanently: your account, your encrypted backup and the files you uploaded. Data a coach keeps about your work together is not affected — request its deletion from them.

And if I forget my password?

As long as one device is signed in, it is no problem: you simply set a new one there and everything stays. The password is mainly needed when you move to a new device — there you sign in with your email address and your password.

If no device is signed in and the password is gone, then the encrypted entries are gone. We can’t bring them back, because we were never able to read them — that is the price of the promise, and we’d rather name it here than afterwards. So: let your device save the password, and it will be there on your next phone.

Is there advertising or tracking?

No. No advertising, no advertising identifier, no sharing. There would be nothing to offer either: what we can’t read, we can’t sell.

Getting started

How much time does this take a day?

A moment for the check-in. If you add a note, two to five minutes. The beginning takes a little longer: the quick start takes about a minute — tap a vision, pick a suggested anchor, do your first check-in. If you would rather put your vision into your own words from scratch, allow about a quarter of an hour, once.

How old do I have to be to use DeepAnchor?

18 and over. Not below that — the method works with material that needs a degree of maturity, and a subscription is something you enter into yourself.

Do I have to do something every day?

No. You set the rhythm yourself, and if a day slips, not everything falls apart. A forgotten day isn’t looking away.

What if I don’t know which vision I want?

Then start in the journal. It emerges from your first insights. And nothing is fixed: you can change your vision at any time later on.

Is DeepAnchor a therapy, or a substitute for one?

No. DeepAnchor is not a medical device and replaces neither diagnosis nor psychotherapy. In an acute crisis, working on painful material belongs in professional care.

My coach works with DeepAnchor. What changes for me?

You download the same app and redeem your coach code. After that you see their insights and their material, and at the transitions you can bring them in. They only see what you write if you give it to them — in a conversation or as a package for your next session.

The AI coach

Do I have to use the AI coach?

No. At first launch you choose “without it for now” — nothing is preselected. The method works fully without it.

Does the AI get to read my journal?

No. Only the passage you release goes out — without your name and without your email address. Journal, anchors and check-ins stay encrypted, and the texts are not used for training.

Why does it only answer with questions?

Because a bot that delivers the insight takes away exactly the step that matters. The sentence has to be yours, otherwise it won’t carry.

Pricing

Is there a free version?

Yes: DeepAnchor Free — no deadline, no subscription, no payment details. It includes one anchor with its vision, thirty journal entries, five conversations with the AI coach and 2 MB of storage. The method is all there. If you need more, there are three plans. Pricing →

What counts as a conversation?

A back and forth, not a single question. It counts per ten turns started: talk longer and you use the next one; a conversation ends at thirty turns. You can start a new one whenever you like. Pricing →

How do I cancel?

In the App Store or on Google Play, wherever you bought it. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.

In a crisis

If you are acutely unwell, this app is not the right place to turn — and it says so. Call the crisis line in your country; in an emergency call 112 or your local emergency number.
